MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING

Minutes from the last meeting were accepted as posted on the  club website and as read by club Secretary Richard Guthrie. They are available for review HERE

TREASURERS REPORT

The treasurers report was read by Treasurer Bob Mason and accepted by members present. There have been several pledges of money to cover the geo-tex runway purchase, but none have been given to the club treasurer as yet. The cost of the geo-tex runway was about $1300.

FIELD MAINTENANCE REPORT

The mowing around the geo-tex runway worked very well last week.

Remember if you unlock the shed, to lock it back before you leave the field.

The front gate has been found unlocked during the past month. Remember to operate the lock, the combination needs to be along the top row of numbers where the line marks are, and not in the middle of the dial, and the combination must be in place to both lock and unlock the it.

SAFETY REPORT

Dave Brown reported some hand launches where the pilot walked onto the field and launched but did not quickly return to the flight station.  Also if your are going to place an aircraft onto the geo-tex runway, be sure to walk back to the flight station before taking off.

TRAINING REPORT

New student Brandon Lucius has not done any training in the past month.

New student John Mellis is progressing well with 2 instructors, Ed and Richard.

OLD BUSINESS

The new geo-tex runway was installed about a week ago and thanks to all that helped.  It has shrunk down and is tight onto the field.  Everyone is enjoying it.

Richard G. and Bill D. are planning to build a fixed platform for the lake.  We will need the permission of the land owners before starting.

Club secretary will get with treasurer to get check for the Train Show to reserve 4 tables for the November 19-20 show.

NEW BUSINESS

Membership cards have been mailed to all members that did not pick them up.

Noise level at the field was discussed.  If it sounds too loud then it is too loud.  If you hear loud engine noise anyone and everyone should say something to the person making the noise.  It is likely prop noise which can be easily corrected.  All engines must have a muffler.

SHOW AND TELL

Gary Q. showed his Go-Pro clone camera called Gitup Git2 action camera, available from B&H Photo or Amazon.  It works well for half the price of the Go-Pro, and all accessories from the Go-Pro fit it.  Contact Gary for any other details.

CRASH OF THE MONTH

Nominations were Ed Corbin, Bill Darden, Gary Quiring, James Parker.

By almost unanimous consent, Gary got crash of the month for a ding to his 3M glider.

MEETING ADJOURNED

The meeting was adjourned at  08:00 PM.  The next meeting will be held on Monday September 5, 2016 at Perkins Restaurant 1700 Trolley Rd  Summerville, SC at 7PM. which is labor day.
