DEC 2015 CRCS CLUB MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was called to order by club President Ed Yeash at 7:02 PM Dec 7 2015 at Perkins Restaurant located at 1700 Trolley Rd Summerville, SC. There were 19 members in attendance. The Treasurer and Secretary were unable to attend the meeting.


MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING


Minutes from the last meeting were accepted as posted on the club website and as read by President Ed Yeash. They are available for review HERE.


TREASURERS REPORT


The treasurers report was read by Safety Officer Bud Gehr and accepted by members present.


SAFETY REPORT


Safety Officer Bud Gehr reported that a member had sent him an email where members of other clubs had been experiencing failures of Spektrum AR8000 receivers recently. In the email that was forwarded they stated that they discussed this with Horizon Hobby support and that they are aware of some having issues.


FIELD MAINTENANCE


Field Marshall Gerry Higdon had nothing to report regarding the field


OLD BUSINESS

 

Ballets were distributed to the membership for 2016 officer elections via the mail. They were tallied during the meeting. The club officers for 2016 are:


  • President: Ed Yeash
  • Vice President: Richard Jackson
  • Treasurer: Bob Mason
  • Secretary: Richard Guthrie
  • Safety Officer: Dave Brown
  • Field Officer: Gerry Higdon
  • Members at Large: Bob Call, Bill Evans and Roy Leopold

The subject of the small plane Geotex runway project was brought up. It is on hold until further discussion can be had with the land owner about acceptable alternatives.


NEW BUSINESS


Recent drone registration news and concerns were discussed. So far only recommendations have been made to the DOT/FAA and no action has been taken at this time. The recommendations suggest that any aircraft flown outdoors weighing 250 grams or more should require reigistration of the operator and a pilot registration number should be placed on every aircraft.



CRASH OF THE MONTH

Slow month for crashes this month, but Gerry Higdon took home the award for crashing a balsa glider he assembled at the Model Railroad show into a tree on the site.
