TREASURERS REPORT

The treasurers report was read by Treasurer Bob Mason and accepted by members present.

FIELD MAINTENANCE REPORT

Field Marshall Gerry Higdon noted that the maintenance of the mower is planned and hopes it will be completed this month.

The owners of the house behind the field work a late shift and have requested that for Monday through Friday, we do not fly any noisy aircraft before 09:00am.  This means no nitro planes and no EDF, or anything that makes lots of noise. Bud will be contacted to put something on the web site and maybe blast an email out to all members. Ed, Bill Darden and Garry will see if someone in the club will make a sign to hang at the field.

The field parking area is still muddy and a trailer got stuck this past Saturday.  The field is drying out and the trailer should be removed tomorrow.  Please check the ground before parking!

SAFETY REPORT

Safety Officer Dave Brown noted that some people at the field are wearing hoodies that have strings hanging from the neck. Please be careful and make sure those strings are not going to get caught while starting an engine.

Be careful of flying with lipo battery that has been puffed. Over stressing a lipo battery can cause it to catch fire, either while flying or while recharging. Please replace lipo batteries that have been puffed.

TRAINING REPORT

Josh Carpenter has completed his training and is now qualified.

OLD BUSINESS

- Moving the gate will require purchasing fence boards, but here are enough fence posts.  It was voted inthe last meeting to fund this field change along with getting additional gravel for road maintenance.

- A committee has been formed to review the by-laws and field rules for needed changes.  Richard Jackson will determine the date and time for the first meeting. The committee consists of:

  • Richard Jackson (chair)
  • Bill Darden
  • Robert Goldsberry
  • Dave Brown
  • Richard Guthrie

- It is too wet to roll the field, but when the weather permits, it will be rolled.

NEW BUSINESS

- A farmer in St. George, Manning Bair (that is related to Bob Mason) is having a tractor pull on March 12 starting at 11:00, and has requested the club provide demo flights between tractor pull events.  Several board members went to meet Mr. Bair and Ed Yeach noted that Mr. Bair will be installing a packed dirt runway for us to fly off of.  Everyone is invited to come out and have some fun. There will be no admission for club members. The location is 762 Mt. Zion Road, St. George, SC.

- It was noted that the Eutawville Flyers is have a giant scale RC fly-in on Feb. 26-27.

CRASH OF THE MONTH

Ed Yeach was crash of the month again, for several incidents that also included some while instructing.
