MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING

Minutes from the last meeting were accepted as posted on the club website and as read by Secretary Richard Guthrie. They are available for review HERE.

TREASURERS REPORT

The treasurers report was read by Treasurer Bob Mason and accepted by members present.

SAFETY REPORT

  • Safety Officer Dave Brown comments about AMA and FAA registration, and he showed label maker that could make it easy to add the FAA registration number into any airplane.
  • Dave cautioned members to not fly inside the flight line at either end of the runway, at the north end its too close to the road, at the south end it is too close to the house behind the field.
  • An additional safety tip given was to use a very small drop of CA on collets for electric props to prevent them from flying off.  The small drop of CA will still allow for the removal when needed.
  • Arming any aircraft behind the fence is still a field safety rule and needs to be enforced.  If your are working behind the fence on an airplane, keep the switch turned off if it has one, or remove the prop.
  • It was noted that we may want to change the field safety rule to allow for using THROTTLE CUT as a means of working on an aircraft behind the fence.  The board will discuss this at the next meeting.

FIELD MAINTENANCE

  • Field Marshall Gerry Higdon noted that some onion grass is growing up and to watch for it during takeoffs and landings until he mows again.
  • It was also noted that the gate was found unlocked one day this past week. It was suggested that Bud may want to remind all members about locking the gate via an email blast
  • The field parking area did flood recently without any rain, likely from the ditch behind the field having a release of water that was blocked upstream.  Be careful and check the parking area before driving on it.

TRAINING REPORT

Instructor Richard Guthrie reported that Justin Wilson is now fully qualified as a pilot.

OLD BUSINESS

Moving the gate was brought up again and Gerry and Dave will check the availability of posts and fence boards the are owned by the land owner that can be used.

NEW BUSINESS

  • The gravel purchased 2-3 years ago for fixing the road is gone, so we do need more.  A motion was approved to authorize Dave Brown to get one load of gravel to allow for maintaining the road.
  • The new mower needs its 50 hour service.  A motion was approved to authorize Bill Dare, to get the part and he will work with Gerry to do the 50 hour service ourselves.

CRASH OF THE MONTH

Crash of the month is Dave Schonhut for 2 crashes this month.  It was also noted that Eddie crashed his T28, Bill Darden Senioritta when in and Bob Parrish has one go into.  Ed Yeash did not have any.

Dave provided a picture of the carnage.
