JAN 2018 CRCS CLUB MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was called to order by club President Ed Yeash at 7:00PM Monday, January 8, 2018 at Perkins Restaurant located at 1700 Trolley Rd Summerville, SC. There were 20 members in attendance. 

Board members present were: 

  • President: Ed Yeash 
  • Vice President: Richard Jackson 
  • Treasurer: Bob Lanphear 
  • Safety Officer: Dave Brown 
  • Field Officer: Gerry Higdon 
  • Members at Large: Bob Call. Roy Leopold and Bill Evans(absent) 

New Members — Craig Newhauser, joined in December and was introduced at meeting. 

Guests - none 


MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING 

Minutes from the last meeting were read by John Landoll' (for Secretary Elain Jackson) and accepted by the members present. 


TREASURERS REPORT 

The treasurers report was read by Bob Lanphear and accepted by members present. 


SAFETY REPORT 

Reminder to renew AMA if not already current. 

Everyone was reminded that the FAA registration is now reinstated and required for all aircraft as well as Drones. 

If you previously registered, no additional action required. 

CRCS members must have their AMA number on their aircrafts and Drones. This is to comply with AMA to insure coverage. It is also recommended that your FAA registration also be placed on your aircraft as well, although not required by CRCS club. 


FIELD MAINTENANCE REPORT 

Gary has asked that we use caution when driving at field while there is still standing water from recent weather. 

Addition discussions for purchasing a second mower from Dave Brown in the March timeframe. 

Motion made to pursue funding. Approximate cost to club of $3000. Condition of mower stated to be good. It was request to look over mower at the field. 


TRAINING REPORT 

Nothing to report 


OLD BUSINESS 

Ed Yeash noted the date of the tractor pull event is April 28 and 29. 

In addition, the Air Show at the Air Base is scheduled for April 28. Current AMA will be required for pilots. Pilots authorized to fly will be decided by the CRCS officers based on a criteria. 

Open discussion on the 50th Anniversary of the club in April. Suggestion was to develop a club brochure which would include our history and club information. Bill Darden volunteered to research. 

Additional suggestion is to look into getting club hats, shirts with club anniversary insignia. Shawn Mason will get more information and quotes. 


NEW BUSINESS 

Ed Yeash will contact Heather Briggs for next Boy Scout event. 

A motion was made to purchase possibly 3 used monitors for additional SIMs. This would allow us to have more monitors for Flight SIM training. James will check out the condition. Funding was suggested though donations and auctions. Joe Q will donate a controller. 


SHOW AND TELL 

Patrick Showed his WACO-eflite which flies great. He also showed a number of other planes he recently purchased during cool weather. 

Capt Morgan showed his Commander- a replica of the famous Bob Hoover airplane Ed Yeash showed his new F15E. Soon to be flown. Ed has approximately 1/2 build time into project James showed his PT19 Great Planes ARE. Currently it is electric but may convert to nitro in future 


CRASH OF THE MONTH 

Capt. Morgan was voted the award for crashing his Pitts. 


MEETING ADJOURNED 

The meeting was adjourned at 8 PM. The next meeting will be held on Monday Feb 5, 2017 at Perkins Restaurant 1700 Trolley Rd Summerville, SC at 7PM.
