JULY 2015 CRCS CLUB MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was called to order by club President Ed Yeash at 7:01PM July 6 2015 at Perkins Restaurant located at 1700 Trolley Rd Summerville, SC. There were 26 members in attendance. Secretary Bob Call was unable to attend.


MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING


Minutes from the June meeting were accepted as posted on the club website per president Ed Yeash. They are available for review HERE.


TREASURERS REPORT


Treasurers report was read and accepted as read by the Treasurer Bob Mason. The Report is available at the Members webpage.


SAFETY REPORT


Bud Gehr reported that some helicopter and quad take offs have been occurring within 20 feet of the pilot station. CRCS rules require that all aircraft be launched 20 feet from the pilot stations. He also noted that members need to make sure they check their batteries before each flight.


FIELD MAINTENANCE


Gerry reported that the new mower performs better than the Kubota. He thanked everyone for contributing to the mower fund. He also noted that he has been getting a lot of volanteers to help with field maintenance.


OLD BUSINESS


  • Members present took a moment to wish Mike Redman a happy birthday.
  • Weather sealing of the picnic tables has not been accomplished.
  • Spray foam to seal up the bird nesting areas in the shelters has not been done yet. This has been a bad year for bird droppings on the tables.
  • The float fly was a big success.


NEW BUSINESS


  • The chairs have been breaking at a rapid pace this year. It was proposed to replace the chairs with Charleston Benches to provide longer lasting, more easliy exited and more comfortable seating. Bob Mason volanteered to research prices.
  • It was brought up that a sun shade was needed for the new mower to protect the health of the volanteers doing the mowing. the membership voted to have the subject researched. Bob Mason will look into pricing and availability.
  • Richard Jackson brought up the idea of looking into replacing the flight stations over time with longer lasting ones like they have at Lake City.
  • Gary Quiring brought up the need for insurance for the new mower. The board will look into it.
  • The board reported on the meeting with Mr Bailey the landlord. It was a good meeting and Mr Bailey had no complaints about the clubs activities and wished primarly that we behave safely. 
  • The membership voted to provide Mr Bailey with an honorary membership to the club. The club voted to purchase a one year AMA membership for him.
  • A motion was made by Dave Brown to schedule another Float Fly. It was tabled until a calendar review was conducted and will be discussed at the August meeting.
  • Richard Guthrie reported that we have two active student pilots that are progressing well.



CRASH OF THE MONTH

The candidates for the honor were:

  • Ed Yeash for crashing Mike Redmans Beaver into power lines due to radio failure.
  • Dave brown for a splendid cartwheel of destruction with an EFX Racer.
  • Dave Lutzow for Escapade in the trees.

The winner of the crash of the month for July was Ed Yeash by an overwelming majority!


SHOW AND TELL


Gary Quiring brought in his new HobbyKing EFX Racer. $141 plug and play. Takes 2200mAh 3s or 1800mAH 4s LiPo batteries. It has a wingspan of 43” and will do about 100MPH!
