MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING

Minutes from the last meeting were accepted as posted on the club website and as read by club Secretary Richard Guthrie. They are available for review HERE

TREASURERS REPORT

The treasurers report was read by Treasurer Bob Mason and accepted by members present.  The annual budget was also reviewed.

FIELD MAINTENANCE REPORT

There have been dogs getting into trash cans because some members are leaving leftovers from lunch, like chicken bones.  Members should take any scraps of food with them and not leave them in the trash cans.

SAFETY REPORT

Dave Brown reported seeing many puffed batteries being used at the field.  This is a bad idea since they can fail and bring down an airplane or catch fire.  Also notices was some aircraft flying behind the flight stations.  If you have lost control of an aircraft and it will fly behind the flight stations, please call this out in a very loud voice.  If you have control, than be  more careful.  Also be careful of the heat, it has been brutal. A black snake has been seen near the shelters at the field. Be alert.

TRAINING REPORT

New student Brandon Lucius is doing OK, but needs to decide on a airplane that he can own that is more of a trainer aircraft.

OLD BUSINESS

  • The new geo-tex runway will be ordered soon and delivered directly to the field.
  • Reviewed was the options of a dock at the lake, with the most likely being a fixed platform attached to the shore with posts sunk into the mud. Final recommendation to be made at the next meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

  • Train Show will be November 19-20.  Motion was passed to have 4 tables at the event. Club Secretary will send in the request.
  • Recommendation was made and accepted to spread more fire ant poison around the shelters.  Too many people are being bit.
  • Membership cards are now available.  Richard Guthrie has them so come to the next meeting or to the field.

SHOW AND TELL

  • Gary Q. showed a Piñata 43” aircraft from flyingtrainer.com. It is a flying wing that has a unique building process that uses EPP foam, a UV laminate, and strapping tape.  The laminate has glue on the back that is activate when heated to 212 degrees, but it does not shrink. Look for a You Tube video, or watch Gary fly it at the field.
  • Richard G. showed an FT Flyer aircraft made of Foam Board. Plans can be down loaded from FliteTest.com and the foam board can be purchased for $1.00 from Dollar Tree. The entire airplane can be built for under $50. Both Richard, James, and Steve can be seen flying these at the field.  They make a great plane to get your flying thumbs warmed up before taking a bigger airplane up.

CRASH OF THE MONTH

nominations were Ed Yeash, Steve Akins, and Bob Mason.  Steve won for crashing his 60 size stick while turning final.

MEETING ADJOURNED
