TREASURERS REPORT

The treasurers report was read by Treasurer Bob Mason and accepted by members present.

FIELD MAINTENANCE REPORT

The field was in excellent shape for the breakfast last week. The four new gate posts are in.  Now waiting on adding the fence and moving the gate. This should happen soon.

SAFETY REPORT

Dave Brown reported a safety incident at the Joe Nall where a pilot was sitting on the ground in from of a running airplane that was not restrained and got hurt. Also noted was some aircraft that were being taxied behind the flight station.  Remember to only taxi an aircraft up to the flight station and never behind them. Also remember to taxi at least 25 feet from the flight station before taking off.

TRAINING REPORT

New student Brandon Lucius just joined and has started training.

OLD BUSINESS

  • Float fly next weekend at the lake. There will be a porte-potty and a rescue boat.
  • Ed Yeash described the option for adding the geo-tex runway to the field, which will be 15 feet wide, and a little less than 300 feet with some taxiways out to it. No sand will be put  underneath.  The land owners have approved of this. The runway will be purchased from a special fund in the treasury, but that fund will need to be build back up by donations or auctions.  A proposal was made and seconded to authorize the purchase of the geo-tex runway.  The motion was passed by an 18 to 6 vote. There were two very nice donation pledges made at the meeting. All members are encouraged to contribute what they can to this.  It will take some time to order and have it shipped and made ready to install.
  • Adding a dock at the lake to make it easier to launch and retrieve float planes was discussed again.  A committee was formed to work out the details. The committee includes Bill Darden, Richard Guthrie, Bob Call.  Shawn Mason may be able to commit some resources for this also.

NEW BUSINESS

Dave Brown at the Joe Nall listened to an AMA discussion about an FAA proposal for “Design and Production Standards” that would mean all builders, commercial and private would need to meet these standards for an RC aircraft to be certified.  This idea is in one of the Congressional bills to reauthorize the FAA but the bill has not yet passed Congress.

SHOW AND TELL

Richard Guthrie showed the new Horizon Hobby Mini Apprentice and Gary Quiring showed a new very large sail plane from Hobby King.

CRASH OF THE MONTH
