JUN 2017 CRCS CLUB MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was called to order by club Vice President Richard Jackson at 7:02PM Monday, June 5, 2017, at Perkins Restaurant located at 1700 Trolley Rd Summerville, SC. 

There were 23 members in attendance. Board members are:

  • Vice President: Richard Jackson
  • Treasurer: Bob Lanphear
  • Secretary: Richard Guthrie
  • Field Officer:  Gerry Higdon
  • Members at Large: Bob Call, Roy Leopold, Bill Evans

New Member - Patrick Cotton, Mike Davidson


MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING

Minutes from the last meeting were not taken because of the absence of the club secretary.


TREASURERS REPORT

The treasurers report was read by Richard Jackson and accepted by members present. 


SAFETY REPORT

  • It has been noted that too many pilots are flying too close to the pilot stations, when landing on the Geotex runway, do not fly between the Geotex  and the pilot stations.  
  • It is also important to stand inside the pilot station to prevent being hit by an aircraft that comes off the Geotex while landing.
  • REMEMBER TO UNPLUG ALL ELECTRIC AIRCRAFT BEFORE TAKING IT BEHIND THE FENCE.


FIELD MAINTENANCE REPORT

  • The second strip of the Geotex was put in place and is working well.  
  • It was also noted that there were beer cans in the trash cans.  BIG NO-NO.


TRAINING REPORT

Both new members above will be trained by Richard Guthrie.


OLD BUSINESS

  • Scout meeting is 7 June.
  • Breakfast date was changed to 8 July, 9:00am
  • This coming Saturday is the float fly.


NEW BUSINESS

  • Discussion of the FAA rules being struck down by the courts.  Watch for notes from the AMA.
  • Discussion of having a second wind sock at the North end of the fence.  Mike Marchant will donate a wind sock, and Richard Guthrie will look into how best to get a pole. 


CRASH OF THE MONTH

Steve Akins for crashing his Avistar 30cc for unknown reasons.


MEETING ADJOURNED

The meeting was adjourned at  07:55 PM.  The next meeting will be held on Monday July 3, 2017 at Perkins Restaurant 1700 Trolley Rd  Summerville, SC at 7PM.
