MINUTES FROM LAST MEETING:

The minutes from the May meeting were presented and accepted by the members present.

TREASURERS REPORT:

The treasurer’s report was presented by Ed Yeash and accepted by the members present.

SAFETY REPORT:

Everyone has been following the safety rules, however, if there are more than one or two pilots, please try to stay in or very close to the pilot boxes so others will be aware of who is in the air.

TRAINING:

With the two new members, Steve and Joe, joining the club, we have two new trainees.

FIELD MAINTENANCE REPORT:

The field committee requested that the club purchase a “blower” to use in removing grass clippings from the flight deck. It will also be used to clean grass buildup from the blades of the mowers. After a short discussion of whether a battery or a gas blower would be better, a motion was made and passed to let the Field Committee check out the advantages of each type and purchase the type they feel will work best.

OLD BUSINESS:

We are still waiting for the tree cutting company to rent a chipper and finish cleaning up the debris.  As soon as the job is finished, they will be paid.

Our club will be participating again this year in the STEM Camp for the Cub Scouts on June 6th. This event has been moved from the McCellanville AME Church to The Elks Club at 1112 Sam Rittenburg Blvd.  Any of our members who wish to help need to meet at the Elks Club at 7:30 am in order to set up before the campers arrive.

NEW BUSINESS:

Christina Swift, Public Relations Officer for Marine Corp Air Station Beauford, issued our club an invitation to put on a static and flying demonstration at their “Open House 2019”. This will be a two day event on Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28 2019. A motion was made and passed to accept this invitation. More information on this as we find out the details. Ed asked Frank Metzger to be the liaison between the club and the base.

The club had originally planned to have the “Club Breakfast” on Saturday, June 2nd, but due to all of the planning that had to go into the Air Force Base, The Model Train Show, and the Boy Scout STEM camp. This club event was overlooked. A motion was made and passed to table this and consider having it this fall either as a breakfast or a picnic.

SHOW AND TELL:

An electric plane and radio has been donated to the club to be sold or auctioned. The person who donated it will split the proceeds 50/50 with the club. The set has a $200 reserve on it.

CRASH OF THE MONTH:

We had three nominees and an Honorable Mention for this award.

Art crashed his Trojan

Charles dinged his Rare Bare

Pat Cotton crashed his PT-17 and received the “Crash of the Month Trophy”

Gary Quiring was flying at Eutawville and crashed his new 12 foot wingspan plane.
