MINUTES FROM LAST MEETING:

The minutes from the February meeting were accepted by the members present.

TREASURERS REPORT:

The February treasurer’s report was accepted presented by Treasurer.

SAFETY REPORT:

Dave Brown was absent, no report.

FIELD MAINTENANCE REPORT:

Mike McGee was absent, no report.

TRAINING:

Joe August has soloed and is now an official pilot.

OLD BUSINESS:

Because of a STEM Jubilee program at the Charleston County Fair Grounds, the boy scouts that we were expecting to be at the Tractor Pull event on March 9th will not be coming. Other events that were planned for them are still in place and will be interesting for adults as well.

Don’t forget this field has been sanctioned by AMS and is available for us to fly on all year. Richard Jackson brought up the point that the pond at the tractor pull site is large enough for a Float Fly.

The Beauford Air Show on April 27 & 28 will be a static display only. Robert Brooks has indicated that he will represent the club since he lives in that area. Rodger has indicated that he will be able to help on Saturday but not Sunday. ‘Capt. Morgan’ will also want to take a couple of simulators for kids of all ages to use to get a feel of piloting a remote control aircraft. If you would like to help him, please contact Frank Metzger to get a security pass. Contrary to the information that was given to us last year when we were first invited, the Base will NOT supply overnight quarters for participants.

April 27 & 28 is also the dates for the Model Railroad Show in North Charleston. We have been invited to display our planes at this event for several years. There is also an area where we can fly if weather permits.

Our Club Spring Picnic has been scheduled for May 4th, weather permitting.

Don’t forget to get your tickets for the raffle that will be held at the December meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

There was no New Business to bring before the club at this time.

SHOW AND TELL:

Joe showed off his all wood, hand painted Top Flight 60 Kit, Evolution 60 gas powered plane. He started work on it last May. Everything on the plane is hand painted except the Top Flight 60 sticker. This is the same plane he brought for Show and Tell last October, but he has done a lot of work on it since then.

Capt. Morgan showed off his repaired plane that crunched the nose when it crashed last year.

CRASH OF THE MONTH:

There were no reported crashes for the month, so Charlie Tenio will hold onto the award until next month.

MEETING ADJOURNED:

Meeting adjourned at 7:35 PM. Next meeting will be on April 1st, 2019 at Perkins Restaurant located at 1700 Trolley Road, Summerville, SC.
