FULL SCALE GEEBEE R2 AEROBATIC FLIGHT

2/21/2015 - The GeeBee R series racers had a short history and were known to be difficult to fly. The scuttle butt was that the airplane was a widow maker and very limited in the aerobatic regime because of its dicey flight characteristics. You would never know it by this flight demonstration. This particular replica was donated to the Fantasy of Flight museum in Florida. You can read about the plane here. In addition to the GeeBee the Fantasy of Flight museum has a large number of flying golden age aircraft both original and replicas. You can read about them here

FAA RELEASES PROPOSED SUAS (DRONE) RULE

2/19/2015 - The FAA released a proposed rulemaking concerning drone use in the USA. The AMA published a small report on it here. The FAA has a brief overview published here. You can download the whole 195 page proposal in PDF form here.

HEY DUDE, NICE COCKPIT

2/19/2015 - Not satisfied with the realism of your P-51? CRCS Member Jay Marshall found this video showing how to take your cockpit to the next level!

REMEMBER STRAWBERRY 5

2/19/2015 - During the dark days of WWII when it seemed the Japanese navy was unstoppable a PBY going by the call sign of Strawberry 5 located the enemy fleet. Its action in reporting this information was key to the outcome of the Battle of Midway. You can watch a video about it here. Your web browser requires Flash in order to view it.

SUFFERING FROM THE WINTER TIME BLUES?

2/12/2015 - Do you have the itch to fly but the wind and cold are keeping you grounded? Maybe these videos from a model show at RAF Cosford in 2014 and 2013 will cheer you up! They might even make you brave the weather to sneak in a quick fix!

SPITFIRE 944

2/9/2015 - Club member Jay Marshall shared this video with us. Its a first hand account of an American pilot that flew an unarmed Spitfire on reconnaissance missions into Germany during WWII. The story behind how the pilot came to be interviewed is interesting in itself, but his account of some of his missions in to the depths of enemy territory in an unarmed plane is what made he and his comrades our greatest generation.

2/8/2015 - Had a minor or major mishap with your cherished foam aircraft? Depressed at the thought of having to spend over a hundred dollars to get a replacement? Fear not because you may be able to restore your recently demolished pride and joy with minimal time and effort. Not only that but it can be made to look almost new! I’ve put together a video how to guide to save your plane from the dumpster! Check it out here!
