HOW TO WATERPROOF YOUR AIRCRAFT

12/29/2014 - Jim H came across an interesting How-To video on YouTube by the FliteTest guys. In it they cover how to waterproof your receiver, servo’s and ESC’s. Brushless motors don’t need any special prep. They can run underwater as is.

In the beginning of the video they fly a COAX helicopter from the bottom of a fishtank full of water out of the tank and into the air.

The key tool needed is a spray can of CorrosionX. It takes almost no time at all. ESC’s are a little more effort and involve sealing the ESC with 24hr epoxy. You can use  5 to 60 minute epoxy, but it does not last as long.

If you are into flying off of water, running cars through puddles or use RC boats this video is worth a watch.
